Tragic Loss: Anupamaa Actor Rituraj Singh Passes Away at 59 Due to Cardiac Arrest

In a heartbreaking turn of events, the television industry mourns the untimely demise of Rituraj Singh, a distinguished actor known for his role as Yashpal in the hit serial Anupamaa. The 59-year-old artist succumbed to a sudden cardiac arrest.

Confirmation of Rituraj Singh’s passing came from a close friend and fellow actor Amit Behl, adding a somber note to the entertainment world. The actor, who had recently been battling a pancreatic disease, breathed his last on Monday night.

According to Behl, Rituraj had been admitted to the hospital for stomach issues but was discharged a few days ago. The fatal cardiac arrest occurred around 12:30 am at his residence, leaving friends, colleagues, and fans in shock.

Expressions of grief flooded social media, with actors like Arshad Warsi and Hansal Mehta sharing heartfelt messages. Warsi, who lived in the same building as Singh, reflected on their friendship and lamented the loss of a dear friend and talented actor.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Warsi wrote, “I am so saddened to know that Ritu Raj passed away. We lived in the same building; he was a part of my first film as a producer. Lost a friend and a great actor… will miss you, brother…”

Hansal Mehta added, “Rituraj!!!! Can’t believe this! I directed him briefly in a daily soap called K Street Pali Hill, but in the process, we became good friends. Been a while since we hung out, but I have such fond memories. Untapped actor and a warm human. Gone suddenly and too early.”

Several other industry figures, including Vivek Agnihotri, joined in expressing their condolences, emphasizing the loss of not just an actor but also a warm and vibrant personality.

Rituraj Singh’s illustrious career included roles in popular shows such as Banegi Apni Baat, Jyoti, Hitler Didi, Shapath, Warrior High, Aahat, Adaalat, Diya, and Aur Baati Hum. His portrayal of Balwant Choudhary in the TV serial Laado 2 further showcased his versatility.

Beyond television, Rituraj made notable contributions to the film industry, featuring in movies like Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017), Vash- Possessed by the Obsessed, and Thunivu (2023). His final cinematic appearance was in Yaariyan 2, released last year.

The actor also embraced the digital wave, leaving his mark in web series such as The Test Case, Hey Prabhu, Criminal, Abhay, Bandish Bandits, Never Kiss Your Best Friend, and Made in Heaven season 2. Before his passing, he played the role of Yashpal in the popular serial Anupamaa.

Rituraj Singh’s sudden departure has left the entertainment fraternity and fans mourning the loss of a talented artist who contributed significantly to the world of television and cinema. May his soul rest in peace.
