David Corenswet’s New Superman Costume Leaked

Recent set photos from the upcoming Superman movie reveal David Corenswet in a costume that nods to Superman’s classic look. However, not all fans are happy with the change.

James Gunn's new DC Universe will kick off with "Superman: Legacy," starring David Corenswet, set to release in July 2025. Gunn has promised to stay true to the comics, which is exciting news for comic book fans. But this has also led to some surprising changes.

In the leaked photos, Corenswet is seen wearing a costume that includes the iconic trunks, a feature Henry Cavill's Superman ditched in 2013's "Man of Steel." This detail has sparked a mixed reaction among fans.

Henry Cavill, who played Superman for many years, is not part of James Gunn’s new vision for the DC Universe. His departure has been tough for many fans. The decision to cast David Corenswet and bring back the trunks has not been well received by everyone.

A Hard Goodbye to Henry Cavill:

Pictures shared by an insider show Corenswet in the new costume on the set of "Superman: Legacy." Another user shared images of mock newspapers from the movie, featuring articles about Superman’s heroic deeds, with one written by Clark Kent himself.

The trunks, which were popular in the 1930s as a symbol of strength among bodybuilders, have been a staple of Superman’s costume throughout most of his history.

Why the Trunks?

Henry Cavill's version of Superman, which omitted the trunks, became widely popular. Any deviation from his look has been controversial among fans.

James Gunn, however, is committed to bringing the new DC Universe closer to its comic book roots, which includes the return of the trunks.

Since Henry Cavill's departure, many fans have been reluctant to accept a new Superman. David Corenswet has faced intense scrutiny and comparisons to Cavill.

The leaked photos of the new costume have only fueled this fire, with fans expressing their dissatisfaction and disapproval in online comments.

Despite the backlash, James Gunn is moving forward with his vision for a more comic-accurate Superman in "Superman: Legacy." Whether fans will eventually embrace the new look remains to be seen.
