Recalls Due to Listeria and Botulism Risks

Foppen Seafood is recalling its Smoked Norwegian Salmon Slices (8.1 oz) identified by lot number 412.

Listeria Risk:

Foppen Smoked Norwegian Salmon Slices:

These products were sold in Kroger and Payless Supermarkets across 15 states in the USA due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

This bacterium can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

While healthy individuals might experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

Totally Cool, Inc. of Owings Mills, Maryland, is recalling multiple brands of ice cream due to the potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Totally Cool, Inc. Ice Cream Products:

These products were distributed nationwide and were available in retail locations and through direct delivery. As with the salmon slices, this bacterium poses a significant health risk, especially to vulnerable populations.

Snapchill LLC of Green Bay, WI, is voluntarily recalling all canned coffee products manufactured by the company within their expiration dates.

Botulism Risk:

Snapchill LLC Canned Coffee Products:

This recall is due to a manufacturing process issue that could allow the growth of botulinum toxin, which can cause botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning.

Symptoms of botulism include general weakness, dizziness, double vision, trouble speaking or swallowing, difficulty breathing, muscle weakness, abdominal distension, and constipation.

These symptoms can appear from six hours to two weeks after consuming contaminated food. Immediate medical attention is necessary for anyone experiencing these symptoms.

The affected products were distributed nationwide through various coffee roasters, retail locations, and direct online purchases from Snapchill.

The issue was identified when the FDA notified Snapchill that their low acid canned foods process had not been properly filed.

Although no illnesses have been reported and there are no known instances of botulinum toxin in Snapchill's products, the company is taking precautionary measures by filing the appropriate notifications with the FDA.

These products can be identified by the phrase "Produced and distributed by Snapchill LLC" underneath the nutrition facts panel and some also by "Snapchill Coffee" on the label. The specific products subject to this recall are listed at the end of the notice.

For further details and a full list of recalled products, please refer to the official notices provided by the respective companies.
