UK General Election 2024: Labour Party Favored for Historic Win

Experts and polls predict that Britain's opposition Labour Party is poised for a historic victory in the general election on July 4, 2024.

Polling stations across the UK opened at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 10:00 p.m., with exit polls providing an early indication of the results.

Current opinion polls suggest that Keir Starmer’s Labour Party will win, ending 14 years of Conservative rule.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is still campaigning vigorously, despite one of his allies admitting that the Conservatives are facing a "landslide" defeat.

If the predictions hold, Labour will secure its first general election win since 2005, with Starmer becoming the first Labour Prime Minister since Gordon Brown in 2010.

This would mark a significant political shift in Britain after nearly a decade and a half of Conservative leadership, characterized by austerity measures, Brexit, and a cost-of-living crisis.

Sunak has continued to warn that a Labour government would lead to higher taxes and weaker national security, a claim that Labour has dismissed as a last-ditch effort to maintain power.

The Conservatives have also warned of the possibility of Labour winning a "supermajority," which Labour interprets as a tactic to suppress voter turnout.
